There have been changes in my workplace with organization and procedures on how we are suppose to work. I got a different manager. Right now we are in the 2nd week into this new way of doing things. There isn't the organization that there was on my old team. It has come with frustrating, re-learning of procedures on what the new manager wants things to run and noticing that I will not be treated the way I was on my old team.
Therefore in order to help me get through the day I started walking .9 miles during my breaks. I have 4 other co-workers who have been doing it for a while. I had not done it before because I didn't want to go for I was either concentrating on work or doing a project. Now, I look forward to it every day to clear my mind and to also get my blood moving from sitting all day.
I found an app for the iphone(it is also available for the android now) called Nexercise. It is where you record your certain activities during the day. Like housework, walking, P90X, etc. There are a lot of categories. Once you record or track the activity you are doing you get certain points. Once you get a certain amount of points built up you level up. I really like this cause I did play WOW for a little while and always liked leveling up. But one other feature of the app is that you can compare yourself to other friends and compete on who is getting the most points.
If you think of trying the app out let me know and we could become friends on it and compete!! Something to help motivate us all. This app is what I use to track the distance of walking I do. It has a GPS feature to calculate the distance when you are running/walking outside.
Another thing I tried differently today. Usually to handle stress I think of a treat to have. I keep in mind I want to treat myself with anything except food. Once I got to my limit at work I tried to think of something to do. I could not think of anything. So I asked Jon and said "Take Natalie to a dollar movie." which was a fantastic idea. Other than Natalie was not a good girl at daycare and I had to be stern and not take her to a movie. Which she loves movies. If she is bad at daycare she doesn't get to do want she wants when she gets home.
I had to turn to something else to help relieve the stress. So I turned on the kinect and played Dance Central. I love this game cause I use to dance and this is the closest thing I can get to dancing again without having to find a babysitter or enroll in classes.
I also was given some good info that the West Valley Recreation facility near my home gives the 1st hour free for babysitting while you work out. I am going to try to go there this weekend to see how much it costs. If it doesn't cost too much I am going to join and work out there when I need to relieve some tension after work. And maybe join a class or 2. :)
I was proud that I kept in mind to not turn to eating to help with stress. Time to continue the journey. Until tomorrow. . . .
Loves & smiles,
Mo
